Whistler November Events

Winter is on its way and November is an exciting month in Whistler. Locals and visitors alike will be excited about Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain opening day on November 24th.  There is already snow in the mountains and meteorologists are predicting another La Nina year brining in lots of snow to the area.

Whistler hosts a lot of great events in November.  Below are details on some of the highlights of the month!

Whistler 50 Relay and Ultra Run – November 5th

BC Athletics is pleased to announce the inaugural Whistler 50 Relay and Ultra.  An ‘ultra’ is a running or sporting event which is longer than the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometres.  This ultra is 50 mile (80K).   The relay is an 8-person format, with alternating legs of approximately 12K and 8K.  The course will follow the beautiful Valley Trail system around Whistler. Registration is open now for both events and you can sign up online at BC AthleticsThere will be a post-race dance at the Whistler Conference Centre in the evening.

Cornucopia – November 10th to 13th

Cornucopia is Whistler’s Celebration of Wine and Food and takes place over the November long weekend.  During the festival you can take part in fascinating seminars hosted by renowned industry professionals, enjoy wine makers’ dinners, attend gala tasting events and dance the night away at the famous after parties.  Highlights of Cornucopia include the CRUSH Gala Tasting held on the Friday and Saturday evening at the Whistler Conference Centre.   The Bearfoot Bistro will be hosting the infamous Masquerave party on the Saturday evening.  Masquerave will feature some of the country’s top chefs, international wineries and burlesque-style entertainment.  For more infomation and to purchase tickets visit Whistler Cornucopia.

Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain Opening Day and US Thanksgiving – November 24th.

Happy Thanksgiving to our US visitors! Many of Whistler’s restaurants will be offering a traditional turkey dinner.  It’s also official opening day for Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.  There is already snow in the mountains so early season skiing conditions should be amazing!

Bizarre Bazaar – November 25th – November 26th

Visit the Whistler Conference Centre and experience Whistler’s annual Holiday craft fair.  This is a great place to browse and buy unique gifts for the Holiday season.  You can find quality, handmade arts and crafts such as ceramics, clothing, fine art, wood, glass, metal, jewellery, leather, candles, aromatherapy products as well as beautiful handmade Christmas Decorations.  For more information visit Bizarre Bazaar.

Whistler Film Festival – November 30th – December 4th

The  Whistler Film Festival presents a selection of films from Canada and internationally, including premieres from some of North America’s top directors. All film screenings will take place at theatres in the Whistler Conference Centre, Village 8 Cinemas and Millennium Place. 10 Things To Do in Whistler Over Thanksgiving Weekend!

This year Canadian Thanksgiving falls on Monday October 10th. If you are thinking of visiting Whistler for the long weekend, we have put together a great list of “must do’s”.  Fall is a wonderful time to visit Whistler, the weather is crisp and the leaves are starting to turn beautiful golden and red shades.

1.    Book your room at the Summit Lodge and Spa!

2.    Shop the Turkey Sale
The Turkey Sale is where you can buy all your ski, snowboard, gear and winter clothing at greatly discounted prices.  The Turkey Sale is on all weekend from October 7th to the 10th.  The sale takes place at the Blackcomb Day Lodge, just at the base of Blackcomb Mountain in the Upper Village.

3.    Buy quality pre-owned ski and snowboard equipment at SWAP
The annual Whistler Mountain Ski and Snowboard Swap is located outside the Blackcomb Day lodge in the tent.  The SWAP has a proven reputation for quality pre-owned equipment for both kids and adults.

4.    Visit the Whistler Farmers Market
Thanksgiving weekend is the last Whistler Farmers Market of the season.  Visit the market on Sunday October 9th from 11am to 4pm in the Upper Village outside the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.  The market features local produce, fresh baked goods including delicious pumpkin pies, crafts, honey, pottery, jewellery and more!

5.    Ride the Whistler Mountain Bike Park

Monday October 10th is the last day for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park to be open for the season.  Experience one of the best mountain bike parks in the World!  There are trails to suit or ability levels.  Bike rentals and gear are available at a number of stores throughout the Village.

6.    Last round of Golf for the season
This is the last weekend that the Whistler golf courses will be open for the season.  Experience the world class courses at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course, Nicklaus North or the Whistler Golf Club, all of which are open over the Thanksgiving Weekend.

7.    Discover the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center
The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center is located in the Upper Village, just across from the Four Seasons Hotel.  The center celebrates the history, language, stories, and craft-making skills of the Lil’wat and Squamish people. View the museum, exhibits, contemporary galleries and gift shop – a great place to spend time on a rainy day.

8.    Relax at the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa.

The Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa is located inside the Summit Lodge and Spa.  This is the perfect place to relax on Thanksgiving weekend.  Enjoy one of the signature massage treatments then relax by the pool or in the hot tub.

9.    Enjoy dinner at one of Whistler’s many restaurants.
