Cancelled: Pecha Kucha Whistler Vol. 8: “trepidation”
October 25, 2014 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 pm
UPDATE: Sadly this event has been cancelled until further notice. We hope to have the Pecha Kucha’s back in November so please keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter accounts for the rescheduled date.
Pecha Kucha Nights are a rapidly growing phenomenon that now has events in 778 cities around the world – and we’re so excited to be working with the Brown Owl Social Club t0 bring them back to the heart of Whistler!
The theme of the next Pecha Kucha Night is “trepidation” and Victoria from the Brown Owl Social Club has lined-up some great local speakers covering a range of topics from mountaineering, to engineering, to photography and even life design.
They still have a couple of spots open for new presenters, so please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to put together a presentation of your passion.
**Date Change ** The next Pecha Kucha Night will be on Saturday October 25th, not Friday October 17th as originally advertised.
Tickets: By donation or free
Grab them here: http://pechakuchawhistlervol8.eventbrite.ca
Pecha Kucha Nights take a lot of organising and we really want to help keep them sustainable so they can run as long term social events for the community. To help make that happen, tickets are by donation and we are donating our conference space to the event for free.
“We understand that it’s not always convenient for everyone to pay, so there are 50 free tickets and 50 by donation tickets. If you can afford to give a donation there is no set amount and it will be greatly appreciated!: – Victoria Farrand, Founder, Brown Owl Social Club
What is Pecha Kucha Night?
Pecha Kucha Nights are somewhat like “mini TED’s” – they get you all fired-up, motivated and inspired by all of the amazing things happening in your community. But unlike TED you can get chatty and drink beer with the presenters because they’re just regular folks like us.
Presentations consist of 20 slides with 20 seconds to talk per slide, making each presentation roughly 7 minutes long, and there will be around 7 presentations.
If you’re not familiar with Pecha Kucha Nights, we’ve written a whole blog post here on the event – give it a read!
If you’d like to present we’re always looking for new people. Please email email@example.com
