Crankworx Whistler Freeride Mountain Bike Festival
August 12, 2016 @ 8:00 am - August 21, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
Crankworx Whistler brings the world’s downhill, slopestyle and enduro legends home to the superfans, rising stars, industry innovators and the next generation of mountain bike riders for 10 days of competition and mountain bike culture.
Key events include:
Canadian Open DH – Straight down, no mercy. The Canadian Open DH presented by iXS course is a ripper, a one-run take-down of Whistler’s rooty single-track, steep rock drops and big air features. This technical test-piece calls for blazing guns and laser focus.
The Canadian Open DH presented by iXS is open to both Elite and Junior Expert UCI license holders and unlicensed riders.
Red Bull Joyride – The season-defining conclusion of the Crankworx Slopestyle Series and the Triple Crown of Slopestyle. The most challenging event on the FMB circuit, and steeped in 13 years of tradition, Red Bull Joyride owns the Boneyard at the base of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, offering up a centerpiece for the climax of 10 days of mountain biking mania. The best riders in the world bring their A-game to this invitational showcase, interpreting a custom-built course known for its unique terrain, creative features and smooth ride.
Giant Dual Slalom – Raw rivalry is the name of the game in Dual Slalom. This crowd-pleasing format pits two competitors against one another in a side-by-side battle against each other and the clock’s cruel hand as racers battle to avoid elimination. The finely sculpted track of jumps, berms, rhythm sections and drops makes for a daring bike-handling battleground, challenging both 4-Cross specialists and gnar-chasing downhillers. Riders take one run down each side of the course, with the fastest combined time taking the win. Each lap through the track raises the stakes and works up everyone’s appetite to win.
