Thinking of saying “I Do” to Whistler?

We don’t blame you: when it comes to weddings, Whistler has it all. Given that Whistler is less than two hours away from Vancouver, it provides an accessible alternative to a destination wedding for those who live in the Vancouver area—though it’s an equally worthy locale for those who have to come a little farther.

What makes Whistler such a great place to host a wedding? Its sheer versatility means that no matter your vision is, it can be achieved in Whistler. Let us show you what we mean:

An Elegant Affair

If you’re dreaming of a romantic wedding worthy of the stars, Whistler has many grand ballrooms that will serve as the perfect backdrop. The bridal party can indulge in a day at the spa (Whistler offers more than a few options, including our in-house Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa), while the groom and his entourage can squeeze in a round of golf at one of the three golf courses in town. The hardest part of the event? Choosing the right caterer: with so many skilled chefs in town, it’ll be hard to pick just one!

A Snowy Soiree

Whistler is a no-brainer wedding location for a snow-loving couple. You might be surprised at just how much of the mountain you can incorporate into your wedding day! A mountaintop ceremony is the perfect place to start your evening—weddings have even been performed in the Peak-to-Peak Gondola! Spend the rest of the night dining and dancing at one of the on-mountain venues: a little wedding planner fairy dust can transform a day lodge into a mystical mountain palace. Don’t forget the traditional “just married” photo on a chairlift!

A Woodland Wedding

Couples who opt for a nature-inspired wedding won’t need to do much in the way of décor if they wed in Whistler: the mountains, lakes, trees and wildflowers do a pretty good job creating a fairytale forest setting. The Edgewater Lodge north of Whistler Village provides a serene setting for a lakeside ceremony, while the Brew Creek Centre just south of town is a natural fit for a woodland wedding.

An Unforgettable Party

If you’re aiming for a good times vibe that will leave your guests saying, “That was the best wedding EVER!”, consider hosting your celebration in a local watering hole. Believe it or not, some of your favourite après venues, like Dusty’s in Creekside and the GLC at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains in the Village, clean up very well. These places were built for having a good time, and offer ample space for getting the party started on the dance floor.

A One-of-a-Kind Celebration

Looking for a wedding like no other? How about hosting the event in one of Whistler’s private estates? Whistler is home to some jaw-dropping architectural masterpieces, all of which are deliberately designed to incorporate the natural beauty that surrounds them. Whistler wedding planners are well connected, and can gain access to some of these mountainside stunners to give you a completely exclusive and private party.

Whether you’re after a sunny summer wedding or a snowy winter wedding, there’s certainly no doubt that a Whistler wedding is a magical experience.
