Winter Celebration At Lost Lake PassivHaus
January 17, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), in partnership with Cross Country Connection, is celebrating winter by hosting an open house at Lost Lake Park on Sunday, January 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to check out one of Whistler’s greatest amenities, just a short walk from Whistler Village.
Open house festivities include:
· 50% off all day and night tickets for cross country ski and snowshoe trails
· FREE hot chocolate and marshmallows for kids under 12
· FREE hot dogs, gluten free chocolate cake and hot apple cider for all ages
· Two outdoor fire pits
Lost Lake PassivHaus is located at the main entrance to Lost Lake Park, between the upper and lower village.
“The trails are in pristine condition with the great snowfall we have experienced this season,” said Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden. “The open house is an excellent opportunity to check out the Lost Lake trail experience at special rates, as well as enjoy food and festivities at the famed PassivHaus. Bring your friends and family, and enjoy this amazing winter asset.”
Lost Lake has 25 kilometres of cross country trails and 15 kilometres of snowshoe trails through the forest and along the lake. The cross country trails are groomed daily for classic and skate techniques, with four kilometres of trail lit for night skiing beginning at 3 p.m. The cross country ski season typically runs until the end of March, depending on weather.
Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with alternative hours on holidays.
All trail users should note that Lost Lake Park and the surrounding trails are now closed to walkers, runners, dogs and bikes for the winter season. Skiers with dogs are welcome to use the groomed Valley Trail from Meadow Park to Rainbow Park and the Green Lake multi-use trail. The Lost Lake Park parking lot is open to emergency and maintenance vehicles only, but ample parking is available at the day lots.
